A hybrid car has a combustion engine and electric motor that work together to power each other. Hybrid vehicles use gas, but do not need to be charged at an outlet.
Basically, what you need to know is that while you’re driving and braking, the hybrid battery is charged and provides extra power.
According to Babatunde Anjorin, an automobile engineer, this system allows your vehicle to sip gas, including your fuel economy estimates.
Not only that, hybrid vehicles create less greenhouse gasses because they use less gas.
NatureNews findings into future of cars revealed that automobile companies like Toyota, Amazon, Fedex and others have already started making improvements to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
More than 50 market-leading corporations have started their commitment to being carbon-neutral. One of the ways companies are working towards achieving this lofty goal is by focusing on the road. With a constant flow of deliveries, switching from gas-guzzling trucks to all electric or hybris fleets is the first step.
For example, Totota has laid out six environmental goals that will reduce the harmful impact of waste on non-renewable resources here on earth. The organisation have aptly named these efforts the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.
The goals are categorized under water, carbon, materials and biodiversity. These are the biggest forces the orgnisation believes are impacting climate change.
Findings revealed that more and more car manufacturers are adding hybrid engines and all-electric vehicles to their lineups. Toyota Prius was one of the first mass-produced hybrids.
However, it has gained competition over the years.
Even vehicles synonymous with huge , gas-guzzling combustion engine, like the Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) commonly referred to s ‘Jeep’ in Nigeria, have come on board. For example, Toyota’s popular Highlander SUV now has a hybrid engine available.
While hybrid have finally gained traction, plug-in hybrids and all electric vehicles are newer to the scene, says Engr. Anjorin. According to the automobile engineer, aside from the obvious fuel savings that come with hybrid and electric vehicles, there are other benefits too. Below are just few:
– Save on maintenance repairs, since all-electric vehicles don’t need some regular maintenance items, like oil changes.
– Electricity can come from renewable resources such as water, wind, and the sun.
The future of cars is already work in progress. While Nigerians may not see driver-less cars on Nigerian roads as of this year, obviously theu would have been seeing other impressive fets of mobility technology.
From autonomous -driving cars to hydrogen fuell-cells to fully electric engines, we are already seeing a shift in the auto industry. You might have notice seeing electricity fuel and compressed natural gas (CNG) fuels cars on Nigerian roads, they are future of cars.
Ten car technologies that are changing automobile industry
It is no news that automobile industry constantly changes, with new technologies and innovations emerging every year. Many new technologies are being developed by car manufacturers around the world to alter how we use and think about cars.
Today, we could see clearly that there had been significant changes in the way vehicles are designed and operated.
Consequently, it’s necessary you know the ten car technologies that has changed the automobile industry since 2022. They are as follows:
1. Intelligent all-wheel drive
This is a new type of all-wheel- drive system that uses sensors to monitor each wheel’s traction constantly. If a wheel starts to slip, the system will automatically send more power to that wheel to maintain traction.
2. Active aerodynamics
This is a new technology that allows cars to adjust their aerodynamic properties. It can improve fuel efficiency and performance and make the car more stable in high winds.
