Heavy rainfall destroys properties in Nasarawa

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in Nasarawa state, Musa Abubarka has warned the residents of Keffi to halt the habit of indiscriminate dumping of refuse at the waterways, illegal structures as rainfall caused havoc in the state on Tuesday.

The commissioner stated this while commiserating with those affected by the flood.

According to Leadership news, the downpour in the early hours of Tuesday which caused a flood in some areas destroyed many properties, buildings, rendered some people homeless.

The popular Antau bridge collapsed as a result of the flood, Gadan (Manu), near Me&You joint, along Keffi-Abuja highway was also collapsed, as well as the bridge linking Agwatashi community in Obi local government and Agaza community in Keana local government was washed away by the flood.

This make some passengers travelling through the Keffi-Abuja highway stranded for hours.

Many houses around Dadin Kowa in Keffi town were also flooded and it caused a lot of panic to those residing along the river bank.
