Red clover is a flowering plant in the legume family which is popular for its vibrant red or pink flowers. It is composed of isoflavones, such as formononetin and biochanin A, which are phytoestrogens that can help alleviate menopausal symptoms.

The isoflavones contained in red clover can mimic the effects of estrogen in the body, helping to reduce hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings that occurs during menopause.

Red clover may give support to bone health due to isoflavones that is present in them which have a positive impact on bone mineral density and also help to reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

It is believed that Red clover extracts may have a positive effect on cholesterol levels by reducing LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and increasing HDL (“good”) cholesterol, potentially reducing the risk of heart disease. It has high levels of antioxidants, such as phenolic compounds, which help neutralize free radicals and protect the body from cellular damage caused by oxidative stress.

Isoflavones is also known for their potential anti-cancer properties, especially in reducing the risk of hormone-related cancers like breast and prostate cancer.

Its extracts are used to improve the skin health by reducing inflammation, supporting collagen production, and improving overall skin tone and texture. It may offer relief for respiratory conditions like coughs, bronchitis, and asthma due to its expectorant and antispasmodic properties.

Furthermore, Red clover tea or extracts can aid digestion by promoting healthy gut flora and reducing inflammation in the digestive tract.
