Mr. Hameed Rauf, the Chief Executive Officer of Hamruf Global Limited, has announced that 30 of the 114 youths who registered for glass recycling training have completed it.
He made this statement on Monday in Lagos.
According to Rauf, Hamruf Global collaborated with several partners, including American Corner, Ikeja; YALI RLC, Accra, Ghana; Rotary Club of Mushin Golden; Code Campus Nigeria; and Crown Spring, on a project to train 3,000 youths in glass recycling across Nigeria over the next five years.
The six-week program included two weeks of virtual instruction covering topics such as record-keeping, marketing, glass safety, and business setup.
This was followed by a four-week on-site training at the Hamruf Global Limited workshop, where participants learned practical skills such as cutting glass, handling waste, and transforming waste glass and glass bottles into usable items like cups.
Rauf emphasized the importance of appreciating locally produced goods, noting that they often need to be more valued due to perceived lower quality.
He highlighted glass recycling as a means to transform waste into wealth, benefiting both the community and the country.
By reducing waste and promoting recycling, Rauf believes that people can prevent dumping in drainage systems or landfills, thus reducing pollution and fostering a sustainable lifestyle.
