The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), the Makkah Municipality, and other stakeholders have collaborated in pursuing the Green Initiative program by planting trees and flowers at the Muna site, near Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The initiative was organised under the banner of the Pioneers Agricultural Society with the theme: “Let’s Us Plant It.”
NAHCON’s representatives were led to the tree planting event by Muhammad Ahmad Musa from the Commission’s office in Makkah.
He said the initiative aims to enhance the surroundings of the sacred site and combat the soaring temperatures expected during tar’s Hajj pilgrimage.
The NAHCON Chairman/ CEO, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, was represented at the tree planting event by Dr. Aliyu Tanko, who emphasized on the importance of creating a cooler environment for pilgrims.
According to him, the goal of the initiative is to plant twenty trees and two thousand flowers at the pivotal intersection of the Main Entrance of Muna Holy Site.
This green campaign stands as a testament to the commitment of NAHCON and its partners towards sustainability and fostering a more eco-friendly pilgrimage experience.
This initiative holds great importance as it focuses on improving the environment for pilgrims at the revered Muna holy site. By planting trees and flowers, the project aims to create a cooler atmosphere and address the high temperatures expected during the hajj pilgrimage.
