Hadejia council shuts down public toilet indefinitely over unhygienic condition

 Hadejia Local Council of Jigawa has shut down a public toilet in the area over unhygienic condition.

Alhaji Muhammad Talaki, the Information Officer in charge of the council, announced this in a statement on Monday.
Takali said the council’s Chairman, Alhaji Abdulkadir Bala, gave the order when he paid an unscheduled visit to the facility known as Yan Baga Public Convenient on Monday in Hadejia.

He said that Bala reiterated the council’s commitment to ensure that sanitation and hygiene were maintained in the area.

According to Talaki, the council chairman directed that the facility be closed indefinitely due to unhygienic surroundings and unwanted activities in its premises.

“The council will not tolerate such attitude from any public convenient operator or public places that pose threat to the hygiene and wellbeing of its people,’’ the statement quoted the chairman as saying.

The information officer added that the chairman further directed the council’s Water and Sanitation Department to inspect all public toilets in the area with a view to ensuring that they operate in line with the rules and regulations governing their operations.

According to him, Bala also expressed the council’s readiness to enhance environmental sanitation and human development in the area, threatening to close any facility found wanting.

The chairman assured that public hygiene and human development were top priority of his administration

Bala also appealed to community groups and other individuals to support his mission to bring about positive development in the area. (NAN)
