Niger state governor Umaru Bago has emphasized the need to return to agriculture as a means to bolster food security across the Northern States.
Speaking on Saturday at the ceremonial induction of Sen. Halliru Dauda Jika as Dokajin Bauchi, alongside nine others receiving the prestigious title of Shaban Bauchi at the palace of Emir of Bauchi.
Governor Bago emphasized the historical significance of agriculture in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
He highlighted the Northern region’s abundant arable land and natural resources.
Governor Bago underscored the potential for agricultural productivity to sustain both local consumption and export demands.
He pointed to Niger State’s advancements in mechanized agriculture as a model for emulation by other states.
The farmer governor revealed plans for collaboration with the Bauchi State Government on agricultural extension services and livestock development, citing shared interests and objectives between the two states.
In expressing gratitude for the traditional title bestowed upon him by the Emir of Bauchi, Governor Bago urged recipients to actively preserve and promote the region’s cultural heritage.
Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed commended Emir’s leadership and encouraged newly inducted individuals to contribute to the enhancement of traditional institutions.
