Food inflation caused by greed and exploitation – Gov Bago

By George George Idowu

Niger state governor Umaru Bago has expressed his concern over the escalating costs of food items nationwide, denouncing the practice of hoarding and inflating prices, thereby attributing it to human greed and exploitation.

This was disclosed in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim where he emphasized this need during the inauguration of the new executive council members of the Community Association for Grassroots Transformation (CAGRAT) in Minna on Friday.

Recognizing the pivotal role of organizations like CAGRAT, the governor stressed that their support is vital to realizing the state government’s agricultural development agenda, aiming to position Niger State as a hub for agricultural activities.

The farmer governor also called for collaborative efforts from critical organizations and individuals to bolster his administration’s agricultural revolution.

Highlighting the significance of diversifying into emerging markets, Bago emphasized its potential to elevate farmers’ livelihoods and ensure long-term food security for the state.

Describing CAGRAT as a grassroots initiative poised to address challenges and foster inclusive growth, the governor reiterated his commitment to collaborating with the organization.

He urged CAGRAT to facilitate roundtable discussions with the state government, focusing on developmental issues such as the Baro Port and Bida Basin.
