The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria’s poultry industry, vowing to address challenges and foster growth through collaboration with key stakeholders.
In a recent meeting with industry leaders in Lagos, Director of Animal Husbandry Services at the ministry, Winnie Lai-Solarin emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing the poultry sector.
The meeting, organized by the AFOS Foundation, brought together representatives from government agencies, the private sector, and development partners.
Lai-Solarin highlighted the ministry’s plan to engage in knowledge sharing and collective problem-solving with stakeholders.
“We are committed to working together to overcome the challenges facing our industry. This meeting marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration and cooperation,” she said.
Prof. Udo Herbert, Registrar of the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, stressed the need to bridge gaps in the poultry value chain through joint efforts from all players in the sector.
In the same vein, Juliet Adekoya, Chief Executive Officer of AFOS Nig-INGO, also urged stakeholders to form collaborative partnerships aimed at driving innovation and unlocking the potential of the poultry industry
Participants at the meeting agreed to focus on value chain development, policy advocacy, access to inclusive finance, capacity building, and strengthening public-private partnerships as key steps to revitalizing the sector.
