FG Sets to Construct More Dams – Prof Utsev

Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, has said that the federal government of Nigeria is set to award contracts for construction of additional dams and boreholes across the six geopolitical zones across the country.

This was disclosed in a statement released by his personal assistant on media and publicity, Terhemen Oraduen, on Wednesday when a delegation from Sokoto State government paid the minister a courtesy visit at his office in Abuja.

Professor Utsev conveyed the government’s dedication towards advancing various water projects and dams nationwide.

He emphasized that ongoing initiatives are nearing completion and will soon be operational.

The minister also affirmed the unwavering commitment of President Tinubu’s administration in prioritising access to clean water, sanitation improvement, and food security across the country.

Highlighting the ministry’s objectives, Professor Utsev underscored the aim to ensure that eighty per cent of Nigerians have sustainable access to water, improved sanitation, and affordable food by the end of this present administration

Expressing gratitude for the support from Sokoto State, Professor Utsev pledged to engage in more robust collaborations that benefit both the state and the federal government.

Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Barr Bello Goronyo, commended the cohesive teamwork with Professor Utsev, stressing their shared goal of providing safe and sufficient water for all citizens.

In the same vein, Mr. Yusuf Mohammed Machido, the Commissioner for Water Resources in Sokoto State, expressed appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of a seasoned professional like Professor Utsev.

He hailed the appointment as fitting and expressed solidarity with Professor Utsev and Barr Goronyo, assuring them of the state’s unwavering support and prayers for their success.

This reaffirms the federal government’s commitment to addressing critical issues such as water supply, sanitation, and food security, fostering a healthier and more sustainable future for all Nigerians.
