FG pledges commitment to revitalise existing agricultural policies

The Federal Government says it will continue to revitalise  the existing agricultural policies toward improving the livelihood and empowerment of farmers.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Mohammad Abubakar, said this during the inauguration of a  Mini Water Treatment Plant on Monday in Eweta Community in Ikirun, Osun.

Abubakar, represented by Mrs Omolara Oguntuyi, Director, Southwest Zone of the Ministry, said that  the importance of water treatment plants could not  be over-emphasised because of its necessity to life and domestic use.

He explained that the Federal Government would not relent in revitalising the existing agricultural policies aimed at achieving the goals of diversifying the economy.

According to him, the state will further enjoy more benefits from the Federal Government, if the water plant is well managed and secured.

Abubakar urged the community to give more support to the present administration led by  President Muhammadu Buhari, toward  delivering the dividends of democracy as being enjoyed.

Also, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Osun, Mr Adebayo Adedoyin, commended the Federal Government for the laudable and the robust relationship, especially, in the agricultural sector.

Adedoyin, represented by his Permanent Secretary, Mrs Gbemisola Fayoyin, said that the state would ensure that the water treatment plant was  well managed.

He commended the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the intervention in providing portable water for the state.

In his remarks, Mr Yusuf Adedayo, the `Baale’ (community leader} of Eweta Community, appreciated the Federal Government for sitting the water treatment plant in his community.

Adedayo assured the government that the community would make good use of the water treatment plant as it would be of great benefit to them. (NAN)
