The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, has commended the World Bank Group for their vital contributions towards Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Sectors in Nigeria, calling for more partnership to foster the nation’s development.
This was revealed during the courtesy visit of the World Bank Group to his office on Thursday, in Abuja.
The minister warmly welcomed the Practice Manager of World Bank West Africa, Ms. Anna Cestari, and her team to Nigeria and the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
He expressed deep gratitude for the collaborative endeavors of the World Bank in Nigeria and pledged to uphold a strong and cooperative relationship.
The minister indicated a willingness to collaborate with the World Bank group with the aim of establishing a more progressive partnership within the Water Sector.
In her comments during the visit, Ms. Anna Cestari acknowledged the dedication of the Nigerian World Bank team and commended the remarkable efforts of the Nigerian government.
She affirmed the World Bank’s commitment to continue fostering partnerships and providing support in critical areas such as Water Supply, Sanitation Services, Water Resources, Water Security, and the multifaceted role of water in sectors like Agriculture, Environment, Health, and Education.
Ms. Cestari also congratulated the ministers on their recent appointments and proposed a meeting to further explore ways to enhance collaboration and partnership.
The event was attended by the minister of State, Bello Muhammad Goronyo Esq., the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, Directors from the Water Departments, and other esteemed members of the World Bank team.
