Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muhammad Bello has commended the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) over the agency’s contributions to the development of the housing sector in in Nigeria.
The minister made this commendation, when a delegation from FHA, led by its Managing Director, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Tuesday.
Bello said some of the most notable housing projects in the FCT today owe their existence to the efforts of FHA.
He specifically mentioned the Federal Housing Authority Estates in Maitama, Asokoro, Lugbe and most notably Gwarimpa, which he said are the success stories of the partnership between FCTA and FHA in FCT.
According to the minister, “What your predecessors and my predecessors have jointly done together to bring to fruition, the FHA Estate in Maitama, FHA Estate in Asokoro, FHA at Lugbe and of course, the largest estate in Africa, FHA Gwarimpa, is something that we are all very proud of.”
The minister also appreciated the working relationship between FCTA and FHA which he said has been very mutually beneficial, especially to the residents of FCT.
He pledged the commitment of the FCTA to continue to partner with FHA to ensure the completion of other ongoing housing projects as well as the introduction of new ones in the future.
Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director of FHA, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, appreciated the enormous support that FHA has received from FCTA over the years.
He explained that FHA and FCTA are currently working to tackle infrastructure deficit across FCT and enhance titling, development control and the restoration of the Abuja masterplan.
In the words of the Managing Director, “The reasons we are zeroing in on these four are not far- fetched.
“This administration must endeavour to leave a legacy that generations yet unborn will see, pointing to the fact that we came, we saw and we delivered and we were able to bring security, prosperity as well as hope to the people.”
