As part of its efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in FCT Schools, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has commenced an intensive sensitization campaign in schools within the territory.
Flagging off the program, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola said the program is aimed at exposing Secondary School Principals, Vice Principals, Head Teachers and other relevant officers to the Precautionary measures and other basic information on the COVID-19 to ensure a safe and conducive environment for teaching and learning.
He described the sensitization program organised by the Education Secretariat in collaboration with the Health Secretariat as heartwarming and timely as it will help enlighten the participants on the basic information on how to curb the spread of the virus.
The Permanent Secretary said that Administration has provided all the necessary support and allowances to schools to ensure a hitch-free academic calendar.
Earlier, the Acting Secretary, Education Secretariat, Mallam Leramoh Abdulrazaq, expressed optimism that the sensitization program which is been conducted in seven centres within the nation’s capital will create the needed awareness for the best interest of Nigerians.
He assured that the Secretariat will continue to intensify efforts on various activities-based program to ensure the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has no place in FCT Schools.
While noting that the Secretariat will continue to strategies on measures to curb the spread in FCT schools, he appealed to them to comply totally with the safety protocols and School resumption guidelines in FCT.
He, therefore, commended the FCT Administration and the Minister, Mallam Muhammed Bello, for always prioritising Educational concerns as well as the safety and wellbeing of the staff and students amidst the pandemic.
According to him, the sensitization program centres include Kwali, Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Bwari, Karshi and Educational Resource Centre.
Also speaking, the various speakers from both the education and health Secretariat said it is imperative to continue to create the needed awareness so as to keep the School authorities abreast of basic information about the ravaging pandemic.
