The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has said agricultural activities would be given the desired attention by the administration despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was stated by Mallam Abubakar Ibrahim, Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS), on behalf of FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu.
Speaking during the 13th graduation ceremony of Leventis Foundation (Nig.)/FCT Agriculture School in Yaba, Abaji Area Council, Ibrahim said FCT in its readiness will ensure to keep delivering programs that will boost support for Nigeria youths with modern and sustainable agricultural practices, Tribune learned.
According to him, the administration ensures that different agricultural activities in the Agricultural sector will reduce the level of unemployment among youths as well as create empowerment, and social equity.
He, therefore, noted that provision would be made for the 2021 trainees to get their starter packs soon, the ARDS Boss explained that FCT will keep to its obligation of paying the counterpart funding which is critical to sustaining the activities of the institute.
“There is no denying the fact that the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic brought about some setbacks but we will continue,” he said.
Also speaking, the Executive Director, Leventis Foundation, Dr Hope Usieta, commended the FCT Administration for sustaining its support to the centre despite the challenges occasioned by the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic.
