Energy Transition Dominates NatureNews 3rd Anniversary Lecture

The third anniversary celebration of the NatureNews newspaper held on Tuesday at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, featured a captivating lecture on the urgent matters of climate change and energy transition in Nigeria.

The lecture was delivered by the Director General of the Nigeria Country Office, African Development Bank Group, Mr. Lamin Barrow, dwelled deeply into the challenges confronting Nigeria’s current fossil fuel energy and the need to transit to and rely on renewal energy.

Barrow expressed his happiness and privilege in being selected to give the anniversary lecture on the topic “Climate Change and Energy Transition in Nigeria.”

According to him, this topic selection demonstrates the immediate need and significance of tackling these crucial matters in the country’s sustainable progress.

During his presentation, Mr. Barrow imparted his knowledge and perspectives, providing valuable information on the obstacles and prospects that Nigeria encounters in addressing climate change and shifting towards renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources.

Barrow’s stimulating lecture deeply impacted the listeners and motivated them to getting involved and play their part positively in addressing challenges of climate change in the country.

He provided valuable insights into the obstacles and possibilities that Nigeria encounters in addressing climate change and moving towards a renewable energy-driven future.

In his welcome address at the occasion, the publisher and Editor- in Chief of NatureNews, Mr. Aliu Akoshile, assured people present at the event, Nigeria and Africa Continent that NatureNews is committed to sensitising the people about actions that causes degradation of the environment, inform and educate people about actions to encourage greening environment.

Akoshile highlighted NatureNews’ strong commitment to the Nigerian Green Project 2030.

He unveiled an ambitious initiative to plant 5 billion trees throughout the country, with the aim of making a substantial difference in the environment and fighting against deforestation.

“NatureNews is dedicated to the restoration of Nigeria’s natural resources, the preservation of biodiversity, and the combat against climate change through a substantial tree-planting project. This corresponds with international efforts to establish a sustainable and eco-friendly future,” he reiterated.

Further conversations at the event explored the significance of adopting sustainable methods, like decreasing the release of greenhouse gases, advocating for renewable energy alternatives, and enforcing environmentally friendly policies.

The focus was on highlighting that by embracing these actions, Nigeria can effectively address climate change while also generating new prospects for economic development and employment.

The anniversary event provided an opportunity for attendees to network and collaborate with others who share a passion for addressing climate change and promoting the energy transition in Nigeria.
