Minister of Agriculture in Egypt, el Sayyed el Qassir jas said on Monday, that adequate measures will be taken to prevent lake encroachments and improve the fishing process in the country.
Qassir, who said this while speaking with top Agriculture Ministry officials, stressed that all hands must be on desk to stop lake encroachments and develop fish wealth, Africanews reports.
While speaking on fishing improvement, Qassir said fishing methods and the fish feed industry needs to be improved in a way that would boost the capacity of hatcheries to produce fry that should be secured for lakes and farms.
The minister also said fish farming in desert areas will be improved as well as establishing integrated agricultural projects for the plant, animal, poultry, and fish production.
The meeting also took up ways to benefit the most from assets of the General Authority for Fish Resources Development, especially unused farms and hatcheries.
Putting such unused assets up for lease or operation by the private sector should help increase productivity and create new jobs, Qassir said.
