World leaders, climate experts, and activists are gathered in Baku, Azerbaijan, for COP29 to address pressing climate issues, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions and aiding vulnerable nations.
African countries are focusing on securing a new climate finance goal at the climate talks. The richer countries most responsible for global warming need to agree at the climate conference to fully pay for the catastrophic loss of homes and damage to livelihoods occurring across the continent as a result of climate change disasters, reports Amnesty International.
COP29 takes place from November 11 to 22, 2024, and is dubbed the ‘Finance COP’ since it’s time for countries to choose a new global climate finance goal.
