Dangote Sugar Refinery in Numan, is targeting to increase its staff strength to 8000 employee as it projects to increase production capacity to 17000 tonnes of sugar in the short term.
This was disclosed by the company’s Chief Executive, Mr Chinnaya Sylvain Judex, while conducting journalists from North East Nigeria on a facility tour of the factory and its social investment projects in Numan on Thursday.
He said over 550 Out-Grower farmers were involved in the company’s drip irrigation system to meet up the second phase of the National Sugar Master Plan for sugar self sufficiency in Nigeria.
Mr. Judex said the company plans to increase the size of its Out Growers farmers Scheme program from 1000 to 2000 in the next five years.
“Our Out Growers Farmers are having alot of benefits in what the company is giving them”, he said, adding that the company is in business to make prosperity for our community, and everybody is being carried along.
Mr. Judex said the Dangote Sugar Refinery is not in business to just make profits but to share prosperity because, according to him, “we believe that, to prosper in business, the community and all stakeholders must be happy and peace must reign.
The upgrading of the sugar refinery is expected to generate 32 megawatts of electricity from installation of new turbines and 2-high pressure boiler of 90 tonnes of stem per hour.
Mr. Judex noted that the singular effort will create job opportunities through Public Private Partnership to the people of Adamawa state as the company’s direct operation covers five Local Government Areas of Lamurde, Numan, Guyuk, Shelleng and Demsa.
He disclosed that the company had provided, additional primary health care facilities at Kwapukai, 3-blocks of classrooms at Gyawana Government Secondary School and renovated same at Government Technical College Numan.
