Chief Adetona Taofeeq, a prominent cocoa produce merchant and CEO of Tonade Hotel in Owena, Ijesa of Osun state, has emphasized the urgent need for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promote economic diversification, with a specific focus on agriculture, particularly in cocoa production in Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview in Ilesa recently, he highlighted that agriculture serves as the backbone of any nation and should not be overlooked by the current administration.
Chief Adetona stressed that to overcome the challenges of over-reliance on crude oil for economic sustenance, President Tinubu
should embrace and encourage agriculture to bolster the country’s economy. He firmly believes that by prioritizing agriculture and
making it more attractive, Nigeria’s economy could thrive even more than relying solely on oil revenues.
Furthermore, the cocoa merchant advised President Tinubu to consider other avenues for economic growth, such as gold mining, transportation improvements, a robust road network, and stable electricity supply. By
developing these sectors, he believes Nigeria can significantly boost its economy and attract foreign investors.
