The People Planet and Peace Foundation on Sunday held a climate awareness rally in Lagos as part of activities marking the end of Nigeria’s phase of the Climate Beyond Borders Caravan (CBBC).
Speaking during the rally, Mr. Olatunji Francisco, Lead for the Climate Beyond Borders Caravan in Africa, said the initiative began in Abuja and moved through Ibadan and Abeokuta before ending in Lagos
.
He described CBBC as a multi-country environmental campaign involving 21 African nations aimed at promoting climate awareness, environmental sustainability and cross-border collaboration.
A participant in the caravan, Mr. Everest Ikechukwu, urged governments and other stakeholders to encourage the use of renewable energy instead of non-renewable energy sources to address climate change.
The Caravan Secretary in Nigeria, Miss Olabisi Kumuyi, also commended climate advocates and supporters for contributing to the success of the programme held at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.
