CITRINE is a crystal variety of Quartz stone that had been in existence for thousands of years. It is pale yellow to reddish Orange in colour. The name “Citrine” was used for the first time as yellow gemstone in 1385.
Natural Citrine is rare and can be seen in Madagascar in Ural mountains of Russia. Most Citrine are formed by heat treatment of some gemstone. Purple Amethyst and Quartz are heated to produce Tawny Shades of Citrine.
Citrine is derived from the latin word “Citrina” meaning “yellow” and it is said to be the origin of the word “Citron”. Citrine and Amethyst are put together in the same crystal known as Ametrine.
Citrine in it’s natural form are seen in Brazil, Scotland, USA, Africa, Madagascar and known as an Ornament of civilization as early back as 300 BC. They are perfect for making Jeweleries.
Citrine helps to reverse degenerative diseases and balances chemical imbalances in the body. Citrine helps to prevent eye related problems, removes negative traits, depressions and fears and is known to attract wealth, success and prosperity.
Nigeria is one of the countries with large deposits of Citrine and mined in most states in the country such as Nasarawa, Kaduna, Taraba, Bauchi, Plateau, and Niger States.
