United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, known as Africa’s Global Bank, has achieved membership in the prestigious Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).
UBA stands out as the sole financial institution from West Africa among the 14 global core team members, representing various regions.
This selection, from a pool of over 50 qualified candidates in the PCAF signatory community, underscores UBA’s strong commitment and leadership in sustainable finance.
As a core team member, UBA will actively contribute to the development of international accounting standards for the financial sector.
Ace Robinson, the CEO of PCAF, commended UBA and the newly appointed core team members, highlighting UBA’s unique status as the only West African bank on the global core team.
He lauded UBA’s dedication to PCAF standards and its exceptional application process.
UBA’s Head of Sustainability, Chidozie Ezike, expressed gratitude for the bank’s role as a PCAF member and emphasized its commitment to inclusivity, social responsibility, decarbonization, responsible business practices, and robust governance.
Sustainability is a strategic focus for UBA, with a focus on generating economic, social, and environmental value.
With its inclusion in PCAF’s global core team, UBA is poised to further engage with PCAF standards, contributing to global consistency and comparability in financed emission accounting.
The new members of PCAF’s Global Core Team include individuals from various international financial institutions, including UBA’s Chidozie Ezike, representing Nigeria.
The group is chaired by Hetal Patel, Head of Climate Investment Risk at Phoenix Group.
