Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni, has promised crop and livestock farmers of timely provision of farm inputs and extension services to support them in enhancing their productivity.
Buni said this while declaring the 9th Annual Conference of Nigeria Women in Agricultural Research for Development (NIWARD) in Damaturu.
Buni who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana said his administration is enthusiastic in pursuing agricultural revitalisation through a steering committee under the chairmanship of Dr Mairo Ahmad Amshi, the Commissioner for Agricultural and Natural Resources.
He said the committee was working round the clock towards achieving agricultural transformation for enhance productivity, employment generation and self-reliance.
The governor commended the organisers of the conference for their deep thinking in choosing the right theme for the conference.
In her remarks, Amshi, said the conference with the theme: “Food Security, Nutrition, and Sustainable Agriculture,” would go a long way towards achieving agricultural transformation.
Amshi said that NIWARD was empowering and building women and their communities to fight hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
Also speaking, Alhaji Baba Malan-Wali, Chairman of the occasion and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) lauded NIWARD for its determination to move agriculture forward in the country.
