Benefits of Sardines

Sardines are small, oily fish with numerous health benefits and are commonly canned and enjoyed worldwide. They are known for their distinct flavor and various nutritional benefits.

Sardines are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA, which are essential for brain health, reducing inflammation, enhances wound healing and supporting heart health. They are great source of protein, which helps to build and repaire worn out tissues.
It supports muscle growth, and maintains a healthy immune system.

Sardines are rich dietary sources of vitamin B12, an essential vitamin for healthy nerve function. It facilitates the production of red blood cells and boost the energy levels. They are rich in the mineral, calcium which is essential for maintaining strong bones and teeth, preventing bone problems such as osteoporosis. It supports proper muscle and nerve function.

Sardines are one of the few natural food sources of vitamin D, which is crucial for calcium absorption, supporting immune function, and maintaining optimal bone health. They are also great source of
selenium, an antioxidant which helps protect cells from damage, supports thyroid function, and boosts the immune system.

Sardines are rich sources of essential minerals such as iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium, which are essential for a lot of bodily functions such as oxygen transport, nerve signaling, and
maintaining electrolyte balance. Omega-3 fatty acids contained in Sardines are critical to lowering inflammation, reduce triglyceride levels, enhance heart health, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes.

Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B12 present in sardines are beneficial for brain health, memory, concentration, and may reduce the risk of cognitive decline, such as Alzheimer’s disease. They help maintain
skin health,  reduce symptoms of acne, eczema and psoriasis, and improve overall skin appearance.

Sardines are low mercury fish making them safe for pregnant and lactating mothers. Both canned and fresh sardines are rich in
nutrients, however, there is need to consume in  moderated due to the potential risk of heavy metal contamination.
