Association of Water Well Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP) in Kogi state have announced their commitment in installing one hundred boreholes in each of the state’s twenty-one local government areas to commemorate Governor Usman Ododo’s first one hundred days in office.
This was disclosed on Friday when the association paid the Commissioner of Water Resources of the State, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk a visit in Lokoja.
Professor Ikoola Okunlola, a member of the association, underscored the health risks associated with the lack of clean water, attributing eighty per cent of communicable diseases to this issue.
In the same vein, the Commissioner also revealed plans to activate a water law to enhance accessibility in the region.
Yahaya emphasized the importance of harmonizing existing laws to ensure effectiveness and tangible outcomes.
He praised the commitment of AWDROP towards providing clean water throughout the state and expressed optimism due to the association’s diverse membership.
The Commissioner assured continued government support for initiatives aimed at advancing Kogi State.
He stressed the significance of collaborative efforts in water governance to achieve established objectives.
Engr. Dayo Opeyemi, the National Vice President of AWDROP, highlighted the strategic significance of holding the association’s seventh annual national conference in Kogi State.
He urged the government to collaborate closely with AWDROP for optimal results.
