The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced the commencement of comprehensive road repairs in the Asokoro District to enhance access and alleviate traffic issues.
In a statement signed by the Director of Press to the Minister, Anthony Ogunleye, it was revealed that the Asokoro District, recognized for its strategic significance in the city, will undergo extensive road rehabilitation to enhance overall urban aesthetics.
The flag-off ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 7th, at the AYA Roundabout at 12 noon. The initiative aims not only to develop public infrastructure but also to ensure meticulous maintenance to meet the city’s needs.
The FCTA has informed the public about partial closures and diversions on some affected roads to facilitate smooth rehabilitation works.
The locations slated for rehabilitation outside Asokoro include Burundi Street, Cabinda Street, Damba Close, Ndande Crescent, Suez Crescent, Lumsar Street, Addis Ababa Street, Manzini Street, Benghazi Street, and Manapulane + Casamance Street. Additionally, streets like Bamenda Street, Lukulu Street, Kamina Street, Tamale Street, Matadi Street, Algeria Street, ASBA/Dantata Street, Off Ring Road-2, Queen Elizabeth Street, and Gashua Close in Area 8, Garki, are also included.
Within Asokoro, the streets earmarked for rehabilitation are Abdoul Diouf Street, Akenzua Street, Gado Nasko Close, Gnassingbe Eyadema Street, Haile Selassie Street, and Julius Nyerere Crescent.
The public is advised that the Department of Road Transport Services, the police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps have been duly informed and will be present to ensure seamless traffic control and management during the project.
