Alucop, a leading Jordanian metal processing company, has inaugurated a cutting-edge recycling facility in Morocco’s Berrechid province. This marks a significant advancement in the kingdom’s sustainable development efforts.

The new plant, dedicated to the recovery of copper and aluminium waste, was recently unveiled in the presence of Moroccan Minister for Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

Strategically situated within Berrechid’s expansive industrial zone, which spans 412 hectares and hosts diverse industrial sectors, the recycling unit represents a crucial investment in Morocco’s green economy agenda.

Minister Mezzour praised the project as a testament to a royal vision to foster a new era of growth and dynamism through sustainable practices.

With an investment totalling €8.8 million, the facility boasts advanced capabilities, including the production of copper anodes, copper wire rods, brass billets, and aluminium ingots.

This significant venture underscores Alucop’s commitment to environmental stewardship and circular economy principles.

The inauguration of the Berrechid plant not only marks a milestone in metal waste recovery but also provides a significant boost to Morocco’s job market.

The project has created 110 new direct employment opportunities and is projected to drive substantial revenue growth for Alucop.

Aligned with Morocco’s vision for sustainable development, the establishment of this recycling unit underscores the importance of transitioning towards a circular economy model.

Minister Mezzour emphasised the pivotal role of waste recovery processes in unlocking economic potential, ensuring resource sovereignty, and fostering regional development.

The Berrechid plant is a testament to the strategic partnership between Morocco and Alucop, which was forged through a significant investment agreement in 2020.

As the kingdom continues to prioritize sustainable development initiatives, the inauguration of this state-of-the-art facility represents a significant step towards a greener, more prosperous future.
