The Director-General of Nigeria Country office, Africa Development Bank (AfDB), Mr. Lamin Barrow will tomorrow deliver the third anniversary lecture of NatureNews, Africa’s foremost environmental newspaper.
The lecture, which was slated to take place at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, has the theme: Climate Change and Energy Transition in Nigeria.
His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, Emir of Dutse, is the chairman of the event, while top government functionaries and prominent legislators are expected to grace the event.
The anniversary event will also witness the presentation of the Hero of Environmental Actions for Development (HEAD) awards to individuals and corporate organisations in recognition of their remarkable contributions to climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Prominent on the list of award recipients is the former Governor of Akwa lbom State, Obong Victor Attah, who won the NatureNews Lifetime Achievement award for Sustainable Environment.
Lagos State Government won Environmental Impact award, Adamawa State Government won Gender Inclusiveness award, Dangote Cement Plc won Environmental Sustainability award, and United Bank of Africa (UBA) won Climate Financing award.
Other awardees are BUA Group for Climate Action, Sterling Bank for Energy Transition, BelemaOil for Climate Mitigation, and GAC Motors emerged winner of Climate Adaptation.
