In a remarkable display of leadership and commitment to civic responsibility, the Deputy Governor of
Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, mobilized members of the State Executive Council (SEC)
for an impactful cleanup campaign in the state capital, Yola.
On December 20, Deputy Governor Farauta led by example, personally engaging in the cleanup effort
alongside commissioners equipped with brooms and other cleaning materials. Their collective efforts
aimed at clearing drains and removing refuse resulted in a visible enhancement of the city's landscape.
During the cleanup session, Deputy Governor Farauta passionately called for increased public
participation in environmental sanitation, emphasizing the role of collective action in fostering a cleaner
state. Her plea resonated with the State Commissioner of Environment, Mohammad Sadiq Mohammad,
who reiterated the commitment to realizing a cleaner and healthier Adamawa State.
A day earlier, on December 19, Deputy Governor Farauta directed the state Urban Planning and
Development Authority to address issues related to illegal posters, refuse dumps, and billboards
scattered across the state. Expressing concern over the hazards posed to traffic safety and
environmental health, Farauta underscored her determination to address these challenges head-on by
tackling the proliferation of illegal dumps that threaten the city's cleanliness and public safety.
Of particular concern to Farauta was the unlawful placement of posters and billboards on public
structures, impacting the visual clarity of road users and posing potential safety risks, especially at night.
Her resolve to elevate the standard of living for all Adamawa state residents was evident as she
demonstrated a commitment to transforming the state's capital into a model of cleanliness and public
safety.
This hands-on approach taken by the Deputy Governor and the SEC reflects their dedication to creating a
more habitable and aesthetically pleasing environment for the citizens of Adamawa state. Their proactive
stance in addressing waste management and urban planning issues sets a commendable precedent for
public officials nationwide.
