Akwa Ibom Govt Forms Climate Partnership with Atmosfair AG, Unveils Fuel-Efficient Cookstove

The Akwa Ibom State government has formed a strategic partnership with Atmosfair AG, a renowned German energy efficiency company.

This collaboration has led to the establishment of a subsidiary called Atmosfair Climate Sustainability Limited in the state.

During the weekend, Atmosfair Climate Sustainability Limited unveiled its latest innovation, the Save80 Cookstove.

This cookstove is designed to significantly reduce firewood consumption and promote fuel efficiency in cooking processes.

The launch of the Save80 Cookstove followed a productive meeting between Akwa Ibom state Governor, Pst. Umo Eno, and a national team on Climate Change, led by Ach. Ezekiel Nya Etok, at the Government House in Uyo.

Governor Eno expressed his appreciation to Ach. Nya Etok for utilizing his connections to facilitate the climate change initiative in Akwa Ibom.

The government provided essential resources, including land, security, and personnel, to expedite the establishment of the company in the state.

Highlighting the importance of tackling climate change, Governor Eno pledged to appoint a Special Assistant on Climate Change within a week. This individual would collaborate closely with the national team, gathering valuable insights and recommendations for the state.

Governor Eno emphasized the state’s commitment to the success of the project and assured full support to the company’s factory, ensuring a conducive environment for its operations.

In addition to this, Governor Eno revealed plans to organize a comprehensive state-wide discussion, addressing various developmental issues in line with the A.R.I.S.E Agenda. Climate change would be given particular attention to ensure its integration and implementation across the state.

The Akwa Ibom dialogue will gather stakeholders to engage in fruitful conversations about the state’s development, taking into account the A.R.I.S.E agenda and the valuable input of its people spread across different locations.

The government’s dedication to this partnership reflects its seriousness in addressing climate change and contributing to the global effort in transitioning towards sustainable energy solutions.
