Akeredolu backs BACSAAN’s call for swift action on climate change

By Yemi Olakitan

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has endorsed the Builders and Construction Skilled Artisans Association of Nigeria (BACSAAN) in its fight against the country’s consequences of climate change.

During the inauguration of the women-led branch of BACSAAN in Ondo State and its southwest zonal coordinators, Akeredolu, through his Senior Special Assistant on Multilateral, Mr. Felix Alonge, voiced his support.

Mrs. Temilola Odetola, the association’s state publicity secretary, provided the statement to newsmen in Abuja.

In order to spread awareness of the government’s policies and programmes and create a stronger force to win the government’s support and cooperation in reducing the effects of climate change, BACSAAN was founded.

Professionals from the building, construction, arts, crafts, and related industries make up the association.

Alhaji Fasasi Muhammed-Jamiu, the association’s national president, asked all prospective members and the EXCOS in his keynote speech to “be in unity and be committed to work in this era of climate change that necessitates steps for sustainable advancements.”

He claimed that the organisation would support professionalism that adhered to international norms.

If Nigerian flooding continued, he stated, “BACSAAN, via a vibrant dynamic leadership, would seek supports to teach and re-train their people to make buildings, materials, and clothing that will be compliant with climate change.”

Dr. Jumoke Aborode, the national leader for women at BACSAAN, urged the group’s female members to have the training, exposure, and leadership they need to be prepared for new developments.

Mr. Akinniranye Akintade, a representative of the National Orientation Agency’s Ondo State branch, added that the organisation was prepared to collaborate with BACSAAN to support made-in-Nigeria products.

Other leaders from the state, including royal fathers, were present for the event.
