Agric Ministry, NiMet proffer healthy environmental tips for poultry farmers

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has called on Nigerian farmers across the country to adhere to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) advisory as published in its 2021 Seasonal Climate Prediction.
According to the report released by the Ministry and published by NiMet on its official tweeter page, Farmers will experience early rainfall between 300mm in the north and over 3000mm in the south in the south.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Agency has advised that animal’s house should be kept dry and fumigate against pathogen.
Animals should not be made to stand for long on wet ground, the report stated.
The Agric ministry also advised poultry farmers to provide roost (bedding) so that birds do not sleep on wet ground.
According to the report, housing day-to-day chicks under controlled temperatures and keep floor dry to prevent growth of fungi. Light system should be provided for additional warning to keep the stimulation of egg production.
The Agency finally advised livestock farmers to adhere to all the preventive measures so as to stay in line with the predicted climate change for year 2021.
