AfDB Assures President Tinubu of Support for Agriculture, Power

President Bola Tinubu has received assurance from the African Development Bank (AfDB) regarding their support for his efforts and vision to enhance the agriculture and power sectors in Nigeria.

The President of AfDB, Akinwumi Adesina, conveyed this message following a meeting with President Tinubu on the sidelines of the New Global Financing Pact summit in Paris, France, hosted by President Emmanuel Macron.

During the meeting, Adesina expressed his appreciation for Tinubu’s contributions and ideas presented at the summit, emphasizing that it was a valuable opportunity to personally commend him and engage in various discussions.

One of the key topics addressed was agriculture, with a focus on supporting the government’s agricultural vision.

Adesina highlighted the allocation of approximately $520 million for Nigeria’s special agroindustrial processing zones and emphasized the need to expedite the implementation of this project.

The discussion also encompassed the power sector, acknowledging Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring access to electricity in Nigeria.

Adesina assured Tinubu of significant support for his government’s efforts and vision in the power sector.

Furthermore, Adesina commended President Tinubu for his boldness, vision, and determination in pursuing macroeconomic and fiscal stability for Nigeria.

He praised Tinubu’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy, as it is expected to have a positive impact on Nigeria.

Additionally, Adesina highlighted the forex unification efforts, noting that it would enhance access to foreign exchange and increase Nigeria’s currency competitiveness for export purposes.

He emphasized that these recent measures were sending the right signals to investors
and gaining favor with the international community, which would attract substantial investments to Nigeria.
