AEDC gives 2 reasons for power cut in Abuja

Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Sunday explained why electricity supply to the Nigeria’s Federal Capital was disrupted. A statement from the company Sunday afternoon identified vandalism and grid system outage as causes. Below is a release from AEDC:

Dear customers,
Please be informed that there has been some challenges with power supply in the FCT today [Sunday].
First was the disruption of power supply to Abuja as a result of vandalism, which was visited on the Gwagwalada/Kukwaba 330/132kV line, thus putting a substantial part of our customers in Abuja into darkness.
And just as the maintenance crew of the TCN was working to restore supply on the vandalised line, there was a grid system outage, which further heightened the power supply challenge.
We must sincerely apologise for all the interruptions just as we are glad to report that power has been restored to FCT and the vandalised line.
We thank our customers for their patience understanding at a time like this. We like to reassure them that we will continue to do all that is required to continue to serve them.
