As Muslims mark Eid el Fitr celebration on Thursday, residents of Abuja have maintained clean environment by ensuring that the city is not littered with wastes.
NatureNews correspondent who went round some parts of the city confirmed that prayer grounds, mosques and other environs were kept clean.
Also speaking on the importance of clean and healthy environment, the Imam of District mosque in Ikwa, Zuba Abuja, Malam Isah Abubakar called on Muslims to contribute in their own quota to maintain clean environment.
Abubakar, in an interview with NatureNews after the obligatory prayer, emphasized that neatness is one of the criteria of faith.
He said that Muslims, as part of the lesson taught by Islam are to always adhere to cleanliness of soul, body and environment at all time.
He emphasized on the importance of cleanliness as part of the prerequisite that Ibadah (worship) can be accepted by Allah.
“Muslims have often be taught by the Prophet to ensure cleanliness as such, it is the sole responsibility of everyone as a Muslim to adhere to the directives of our noble Prophet.” Abubakar said.
The Imam urged all Muslim faithfuls to comply with the teaching of Quran and Hadith to ensure a clean and sanitized environment and also assist the government in eliminating diseases that could emanate from unkempt environment.
Meanwhile, the Eid Prayer ground was kept clean as delegated Muslims picked up dumped dirts on the prayer ground.
