The tree planting, held at the Alhabibiyya Mosque, Guzape Abuja on the theme: MAKE IT GREEN, was aimed to promote healthy living and environmental sustainability,
The Chief Imam of Alhabibiyya Mosque, Ustaz Fuad Adeyemi, highlighted the significance of the tree-planting effort, noting that it aligns with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, pbuh.
He said: “Tree planting is a noble act taught by the Prophet, and it has an everlasting reward from Almighty God unless the tree dies or is cut down.”
He emphasized that the Soursop tree was chosen for its medicinal properties and its ability to provide shade.

“Trees provide fruits, shade, and serve as a source of green energy,” he stated.
He also recalled that the Geneva Convention, post-World War II, included a clause against the destruction of trees, a principle rooted in both international law and Islamic teachings.
The Alhabibiyya Islamic Society planted over forty pairs of Soursop trees and pledged to expand the initiative with more varieties of plants, both inside and outside the mosque premises.
