Firm plans massive tree planting exercise on October 1st
A climate technology company, Eki Co-Net has announced plans to lead a massive tree planting exercise on October 1, in celebration of Nigeria’s independence day, a move to combat climate change in the country.
The event will host thousands of participants and it was scheduled to commence at the National Stadium, Abuja, as the launching point for the tree planting exercise.
In a statement made avilble to the media, the firm noted that the initiative aligns with the company’s mission to decarbonise the earth through its innovative digital products and tree planting efforts.
The statement signed by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Aigboviose Omage, stated that citizens from all walks of life have been invited to join in the exercise as they will connect with like minded individuals, support a crucial environment cause, an contribute to the global fight against climate change.
”As a climate technology company, we are commited to decarbonising the Earth through our innovative digital products and tree planting actions to complement our solutions. There will be no sustainble future if we do not take sustainable action,” part of the statement reads.
Tomato harvest brings joy to Kano farmers
Tomato farmers in Kano State have bounced back from devastating losses to reaping a bountiful harvest. The remarkable turn around has brought joy and prosperity to tomato farmers across the state.
The farmer’s success can be attributed to the adoption of modern farming techniques, such as string frame method, and the use of genuine fertilizers.
According to the Chairman of M.K.Kura farms, Mukhtar Kura, he said tomato farmers have never seen a bumper harvest like this in Kano State. The youth are getting married, buying houses lands and motorcycles. It is a joyful season for them, and it motivates them to put in more effort during the rainy season.
Kura, however, cautions the tomato farmers to remain vigilant against pest and diseases, emphasizing on professional advice and mordern farming techniques to ensure continue success.
However, the farmers called on the state government to intervene in the tomato value chain to address pressing issues to improve on production.
Miyetti Allah bans underage, night cattle grazing in Kwara State
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has banned its members from use of underage breeders and night grazing in Kwara State to curb the persistence clashes between farmers and herders.
Nationl President of MACBAN, Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, made the pronouncement in Ilorin, capital of Kwara State at weekend. He emphasized the need for peaceful co-existence between farmers and herders in the state.
He said: ” We have instructed our members and the new executive to ensure that there is mutual understanding between pastoralists and farmers in Kwara State. No one should trespass on farmland or allow underge boys to graze cattle at night. This is unacceptable.”
Ngelzarma added that night grazing is often a delibrate act to provoke conflict saying, ” Anyone engaging in night grazing is intentionally looking for trouble. We do not support this practice, and if we catch anyone involved, we will personally hand such individual or group of people to the security agencies for appropriate action.”
Pastor debunks NAFDAC’s allegations on miracle water, soap
The pastor of Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries, Jeremiah Omoto, who the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) alleged is falsely claiming that the church products, including ”miracle” water and soap are duly registered, has debunked the allegations.
On Sunday, NAFDAC announced that it is investigating the church for its wide-ranging ”miracle” products sold to the public after receiving petitions from concened citizens regarding the church activities.
The church, in a statement posted on social media by Pastor Omoto, noted that the ministry is a law-abiding institution guided by the Nigerian constitution and that the church’s spiritual products are part of religious beliefs.
The church noted that its pastor, Mr.Omoto, has never used NAFDAC’s name to deceive anyone as claimed by the federal agency, describing the claim by NAFDAC as ”purely unfounded in facts and narratives.”
In a statement signed by NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the agency claimed that non of the products advertised an sold by Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries based in Delta State, is registered with NAFDAC as claimed by Pastor Omoto. The ”miracle” water and soap are currently under investigation by the agency.
Osun traditional ruler docks over illegal mining in Ondo State
A traditional ruler in Osun State, the Obawore of Ifetuntun in Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Taofeeq Osunmakinde, along with four other accomplices and a company have been docked at the Federal High Court, Abuja, for alleged illegal mining at Lege community, Odigbo Local Government of Ondo State.
The traditional ruler was arraigned alongside his co-defendants, Sheu Mustapha, Sabiru Hashim, Danbaba Ibrahim, and a mining company, Ade Olap Global Resources Limited.
The case filed by Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and marked FHC/ABJ/CR/426/2024, has two charges against them. In the first count, prosecution accused them of illegally mine gold at the Agunlepo mining site in Lege community, Ondo State, on 25 August.
The second count accuses them of unauthorised gold mining at the same location which was in violtion of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
