The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Friday, launch distribution third batch of farm inputs to farmers in the state.
The inputs to be are to be distribute includes improved seeds, chemicals, and fertilizers to about 10,000 farmers across the state’s 16 local government areas.
During the launch of the third batch of farm input distribution in Ilorin, the governor stated that the initiative is part of efforts to ensure bumper harvests and food security.
The governor noted that 600,000 households, including smallholding farmers, have recently been targeted for the distribution of farm implements and other supports.
His words: “This administration is committed to addressing the challenges in the agricultural sector. Farmers are recognized as the backbone of food security and economic growth. Hence, a rigorous farmer registration process has been set up, ensuring that only genuine farmers benefit.” the governor said.

Giving details of his government intervention, Abdulrazaq said the first batch of the Special Rice Intervention Programme benefited 3,400 real farmers with quality seeds, fertilizers, and agrochemicals, leading to significant increases in rice production.
“With the second phase (FADAMA NG CARES), 600,000 beneficiaries are receiving support, including boats, seeds, agrochemicals, power tillers, and grinding machines. This initiative aims to make agricultural productivity more robust and widespread,” Abdulrazaq added.
The governor also mentioned the government’s commitment to boosting livestock productivity and market access through the Livestock Productivity and Enhancement Scheme (LPRES) campaigns.
“By supporting farmers, food security is ensured, jobs are created, and economic growth is sustained,” he said.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Toyosi Thomas-Adebayo, commended Governor Abdulrazaq for his leadership and outlined the various government programmes aimed at supporting farmers and improving farm yields.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sokoya Funke, emphasized the importance of the distribution of farm inputs for the agricultural sector and urged beneficiaries to use the items appropriately.
