WAPAN partners NatureNews to tackle waste management in Nigeria

The leadership of NatureNews Africa Online newspaper and the Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) had agreed to jointly work together in tackling environmental challenges confronting the nation.
The agreement was reached during a courtesy visit by WAPAN President, Alhaji Salisu to NatureNews corporate headquarters at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Thursday.
During the meeting, the NatureNews management team led by the Editor-in-Chief, Aliu Akoshile, reiterated the commitment of NatureNews to amplifying the activities of WAPAN and it’s members.
He stated that as a major stakeholder, WAPAN has demonstrated enormous capacity to improve the revenue generation drive of the country through the hitherto neglected area of waste picking and recycling.
In his own contribution, the Managing Director of NatureNews, Rasheed Yusuf, pointed out areas of collaboration and maintained that NatureNews will promote the activities of WAPAN and it’s members using all available resources within its fold.
Yusuf informed the visiting WAPAN president that NatureNews will ensure all the Environment Champions, Waste Warriors, Local Heroes and Eco Entrepreneur, who are members of WAPAN will be given prominence in the NatureNews publications.
The Chief Operating Officer of NatureNews, Pius Alabi, called for a more collaborative relationship with WAPAN.
Earlier, the President had highlighted areas of challenges arising from government neglect and misrepresentation by some individuals.
The General secretary of WAPAN, Suleiman Adams, enjoined the management of NatureNews to continue the existing support and the good work dedicated to the growth and Development of WAPAN.
