Israel to support Nigerian Women in Agriculture

The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman has pledged his country’s support for women developmental programmes particularly the agriculture programme initiated by the Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Ambassador Freeman expressed Israel readiness to support the women programmes during a courtesy call to the office of the First Lady at the State House, Abuja.

Noting that Nigeria is blessed with good land and climate, Ambassador Freeman commended the various developmental programmes of the First Lady particularly in the Agriculture, Youth and Education.

He empasized on four areas which his country will collaborate with the First Lady.

According to him, the areas of collaboration are agriculture, science and technology which will lead to opening 30 m0re innovation centres across Nigeria in addition to the existing one operational at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Freeman also disclosed that the Israeli government would be setting up a computer classrooms to trins girls who have been rescued after being trafficked.

He added that his home government has proposed Textile Arts programme for young Nigerians explaining that they will be working with Israelis who will train them to improve on their skills.

In her response, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressed appreciation for the proposed collaboration noting that the key areas mentioned were same areas of key interest to her.

She said, ”With the cooperation and support from you our foreign friends, which has been remarkable, we are on our ways to greatness.
