Lagos Govt set to distribute food items to 500,000 households

By Ojugbele Omotunde

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has stated that his government is scheduled to use unions and local governments to give food to 500,000 households around the state.

Sanwo-Olu said this on Wednesday, at Alausa in Ikeja.

He declared that this is just one of several programs the government is implementing to assist people in overcoming the financial difficulties brought on by the elimination of fuel subsidies and the declining value of the naira.

According to him, the goals of these programs are to enhance social interactions, health, education, and food security in addition to providing access to affordable food.

He pleaded with residents not to hoard or distribute the items among their groups when the items are sent to them, stating that the purpose of the program is to assist those who are actually in need and are considered vulnerable.
