CAMIC backs Nnimmo Bassey’s advocacy against GMO foods in Nigeria

By Femi Akinola

The Climate Africa Media Initiative Center (CAMIC) proudly announces its unwavering support for Nnimmo Bassey’s stance on the possibility of Nigerians thriving without the dependence on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) food products.

Nnimmo Bassey, an esteemed environmental activist and the Director of the Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF), has been a vocal advocate for sustainable agriculture practices and the preservation of Nigeria’s biodiversity.

His recent statements highlighting the potential for Nigerians to flourish without resorting to GMO foods resonate deeply with CAMIC’s mission to promote environmental sustainability and advocate for resilient food systems across Africa.

CAMIC acknowledges Bassey’s expertise and commitment to advocating for indigenous agricultural methods that prioritize biodiversity, soil health, and the well-being of local communities.

As an organization dedicated to fostering dialogue and raising awareness about climate change and environmental issues in Africa, CAMIC recognizes the importance of supporting initiatives that promote food sovereignty, empower local farmers, and safeguard ecological diversity.

In light of Nnimmo Bassey’s compelling arguments, CAMIC reiterates its call for policymakers, agricultural stakeholders, and the general public to prioritize sustainable farming practices and explore alternative solutions that do not compromise the health of ecosystems or jeopardize food security.

CAMIC encourages further engagement and collaboration with grassroots movements, environmental activists, and scientific communities to collectively address the challenges posed by the industrialization of agriculture and promote regenerative farming practices that uphold the principles of ecological integrity and social justice.
