Gov Buni Debunks N100m Approval For Daily Ramadan Food

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has urged residents to disregard any misinformation regarding the purported daily allocation of N100 million for 30 days, reaffirming that the total sanctioned amount for the entire month’s initiative remains at N187 million.
The Governor who recently greenlit the budget of N187 million to facilitate the free feeding program is targeting the less privileged and vulnerable segments of society during the Ramadan fasting period.
Additionally, stipends will be disbursed to Muslim adherents throughout this period.
Alhaji Umar Yusuf, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, affirmed that the state government maintains a longstanding tradition of offering sustenance to the needy and extending support during “Iftar” sessions.
Clarifying the budget allocation, Yusuf emphasized that the total sum earmarked for the entire Ramadan duration stands at N187 million, dispelling rumors of a daily expenditure of N100 million, a figure the state’s financial capacity cannot accommodate.
As part of the comprehensive strategy to ensure effective implementation, officials will conduct rigorous inspections of all feeding centers across the state, guaranteeing that meals reach those in need during Ramadan.
Governor Buni’s approval of N187 million will facilitate the procurement of essential food items such as rice, water, oil, and condiments for distribution across 84 feeding centers spanning the state’s 17 local government areas.
Hon. Abdullahi Bego, the Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs, and Culture, affirmed that each of the 84 centers is expected to cater to a minimum of 200 individuals daily for either 29 or 30 days throughout the month.
Furthermore, Bego urged residents to disregard any misinformation regarding the purported daily allocation of N100 million for 30 days, reaffirming that the total sanctioned amount for the entire month’s initiative remains at N187 million.
