The African Development Bank (AfDB) has chosen four local government areas in Taraba State for a N100 billion investment in its Phase 2 Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) in Nigeria.
The AFDB team revealed their intention to collaborate with the state government to cultivate 1000 hectares of land within the SAPZ to enhance food production and turn rural communities into economic centers for farmers.

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, during their meeting at the government house in Jalingo, pledged his support for the project, which he said will improve food production in the state.
Kefas, who was represented by his deputy, Shuaibu Bello, noted the potentials of the project in contributing to Nigeria’s food production.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to making the state self-sustainable in food production.
He added that the state government is poised to leverage agriculture as a competitive edge to increase income and create employment opportunities for young people in the state.
