The Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN) is set to make history by convening the 1st Nigeria Waste Pickers Summit in Abuja, with the aim of integrating informal waste pickers into the emerging circular economy.
Scheduled to unfold from March 1st to March 3rd, 2024, at the esteemed Abuja Continental Hotel, this summit provides an ideal platform for discussions centered around waste management and sustainable practices.
Bringing together key stakeholders from the waste management sector, the summit will tackle the challenges confronting waste pickers and explore sustainable solutions.
The agenda encompasses plenary sessions featuring government policy statements, expert presentations from the industry, and discussions on the economic and social integration of waste pickers.

Additionally, the event will introduce the Four Cardinal Waste Pickers Projects slated for implementation in 2024 and rally stakeholders for the Waste Pickers Road Show in Abuja.
Expected to grace the occasion are government officials, representatives from NGOs, waste management operators, academia, and youth organizations.
The overarching goal is to devise strategies for capacity building, showcase modern waste picking operations, and identify SME investment opportunities within the waste management value chain.
