The Centre for Environmental Impact Analysis and Laboratory Services at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in
Awka has embarked on the third phase of a transformative training workshop focused on waste
management, environmental stewardship, and entrepreneurship, aiming to cultivate 2,000 individuals into
Environment Protection Ambassadors.
This ambitious 12-month training initiative, initiated in Awka, is a collaborative effort between the Centre
and esteemed organizations, including Nivi Chim Consult, Chicason Group, Carbon Africa, and other
international partners.

Mr. Amechi Akorah, the Managing Director and CEO of Nivi Chim Consult, elucidated that the primary
objective of the training is to cultivate a cadre of skilled individuals dedicated to promoting environmental
protection through efficient waste management.
As the former Managing Director of Anambra Waste Management Authority, Akorah highlighted that the
program intends to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills requisite for waste-to-wealth
entrepreneurship. The overarching goal is to raise awareness about the myriad opportunities for
establishing careers and generating wealth by conscientiously caring for and protecting the environment.
Akorah further disclosed that beyond the training program, participants will be actively engaged in training
individuals from diverse categories in various regions of the state, the South-East, and Nigeria at large,
on innovative waste management initiatives.
The program aims to collaborate closely with government bodies and stakeholders, envisioning an
expanded reach to achieve the dual goals of waste reduction and the implementation of international best
practices.
In endorsing this initiative, the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Charles Esimone,
underscored its alignment with the university's commitment to human capital development. He
emphasized the importance of maintaining excellence and enhancing skills to ensure efficient service
delivery. Through this program, the university not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also
nurtures a cohort of individuals poised to become advocates for environmental protection and champions
of innovative waste management practices.
