Certain mining sites that are not in compliance with community development agreements and consent have been sealed by the Oyo State Mineral Development Agency.
The decision was made to restore order by putting an end to all criminal activities in the mining industry for the benefit of Oyo state, according to the agency’s director general, Mr. Abiodun Oni, who made this announcement to reporters in Ibadan.
He stated that the agency had asked to see the appropriate consent letters, community development agreements, and other records that authorized mining operations.
Oni went on to say that the state administration, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, was prepared to work with all parties involved to clean up the mining industry in Oyo State in accordance with the Mining Act and other pertinent laws.
He stated that the Oyo State administration had verified the pertinent documents for this reason.
The DG insisted that the organization would not support any unlawful activity and mentioned that the governor had issued an Executive Order granting the organization the authority to shut down any mining companies that do not follow the laws and guidelines governing the industry.
Before the enforcement team arrives at the site, miners and other pertinent stakeholders are requested to turn in their documentation by the agency’s coordinating director, Mrs. Jolade Omidiran.
