72 Communities in 21 States Likely To Experience Flooding, Heavy Rainfalls – FG

Seventy two communities in 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to experience significant rain that could cause floods beginning from September 8 to September 12, 2023.

The following states and villages were listed by the Federal Ministry of Environment’s Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS) Central Hub in Abuja:

State of Kaduna: Kauru, Saminaka
State of Kano: Kunchi
Argungu, Kamba, Jega, Kebbi State Yelwa
Bakori, Daura, Funtua, and Katsina State
Sarkin-Pawa, Bida, Ibi, Katcha, Kontagora, Mashegu, Mokwa, and New Bussa are all in Niger State. Suleja
State of Benue: Otukpo, Ugbokpo
State of Kwara: Jebba, Wara, Kaiama, Lafiaji, and
State of Oyo: Kisi
FCT: Abaji, Abuja Central Business District, Asokoro, Bwari, Garki 1&2, Guzape, Gwagwalada, Gwarinpa, Karu, Kuje, Kukwaba, Kurudu, Kwali, Lugbe, Mabushi, Maitama, and Wuse 1&2
State of Zamfara: Anka, Bungudu, and Gusau
Kogi State: Abejukolo and Oguma
State of Bauchi: Bajoga, Darazo, Kirfi
Beli, Donga, Gembu, Serti, and Takum Plateau States are in Taraba. Shendam
Briyel
Sokoto State: Gada, Goronyo, and Isa Borno State:
State of Adamawa: Ganye, Mubi State of Cross River: Ikom, Itigidi
State of Nasarawa: Keffi
State of Oyo: Kisi
State of Gombe: Nafada
State of Enugu: Nsukka.

The Ministry also stated that communities along the Benue and Niger rivers up to Bayelsa State should take precautions due to the rising water levels in those rivers.
