Environment Minister tasks new PS on achieving ministry’s mandate

Minister of Environment, Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi has tasked the newly deployed permanent secretary to the ministry, Ibrahim Yusufu Idris, to sustain the tempo in achieving the mandates of the ministry.

The minister disclosed this during his farewell speech at the handover ceremony to the permanent secretary in his office, Abuja.

The minister in a statement by the ministry’s Head of Press and Public Relations Unit, Ibrahim Haruna, on Friday thanked the management and staff of the ministry for their support and cooperation to actualize the mandate given to him by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said, “I want to specially thank you for your support during these 13 months I served as a minister, at times, I had to drag you to achieve result and you have not failed in your professionalism and support.”

According to him, the ministry has achieved a lot especially, in major programmes such as Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), an environmental Remediation, Sustainable Livelihood, Provision of Potable Water, Public Health analysis in impacted communities of Ogoni Land, Rivers State, Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid landscapes (ACReSAL) in nineteen (19) Northern States and FCT, Abuja, Climate Change, Pollution Control, COP27 among others.

The new Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Yusufu Idris, who formally assumed office promised to work with all the staff as a team to achieve the mandate of the ministry.
